The approach in the NUB International Bank Headquarters, Kaduna, is a contemporary interpretation of the classical morphology and proportions of heritage Hausa Architecture. Solving the challenges of inadequate lighting and outdated façade design to create a functional and efficient facility for NUB Kaduna. AD Consulting’s approach was to introduce light portals to allow adequate natural light stream into the building to effectively illuminate the spaces.
The introduction of large windows and a curtain wall that spans the 2-floors of the building was employed to achieve the desire to effectively illuminate the space and also vitalize the façade. The selection of a dark tint for the glass material was to reduce excess ultraviolet radiation from the sunlight into the building considering the prevalent climatic condition of the building’s location in the Northern part of Nigeria.
