Climate modification features are converted into functional art in the Gesamtkunstwerk that is the Villa at Reeve  Road. The cantilevered planes in the villa at Reeve Road Ikoyi deploy horizontal and vertical planes to reduce thermal load on the fenestration. While intrinsic to the aesthetics of the design, they perform a very vital function. Sun shading devices such as window hoods are derived from similar methods used in old colonial buildings.
